Arthur, you have something I need in your suit
Carmelita Vatos is a character on the animated television series The Tick. She is a shapely adult woman with dark hair. She wears a flying suit in the same style as Arthur's.
History[]
Carmelita is the daughter of J.J. Eureka Vatos. In her youth, she played on the Deertown Aztecs baseball team, and had a childish romance with her teammate Wally Head before he and the rest of the team disappeared.
Carmelita was in her mid-teens when her father went missing in 1985. Years later, his secrets were sought by Swiss criminals, so Carmelita came to The City to find the owner of her father's other Moth Suit, Arthur. She developed romantic feelings for him, and they went on a dinner date that was interrupted by an attacked from the Swiss. The Tick arrived to defeat them, but they were all soon swallowed by Blowhole, a giant, anthropomorphic whale, who was running across the USA. They discovered Dr. Vatos inside, and used Tick's inanimate friend Little Wooden Boy as firewood to smoke themselves out.
She later encountered Wally again, who had captured Arthur and sought to reclaim Carmelita's love. However, with the help of Tick, they escaped.
She was present at the Science Fair, where her father displayed his new Mind Transfer device. The event was disrupted by Professor Chromedome who stole the Mind Transfer device on behalf of Chairface Chippendale, who desired the Tick's body. Chromedome switched bodies with Carmelita, confident that none of the heroes would be willing to harm her. Carmelita (in Chromedome's body) briefly subdued Chromedome, but was distracted by the prospect of a kiss from Arthur (who was in the Tick's body). Chromedome recovered and used the device to scramble the attendees minds and bodies, leaving Carmelita in the body of a disposable Can O Man while Dr. Vatos' was in Carmelita's body.
Tick managed to reclaim the device, and Dr. Vatos was eventually able to put everyone's minds in their correct bodies. Arthur had been building up the courage to kiss Carmelita and he finally did, not realizing that the Tick's mind was in Carmelita's body at the time.

- In Hebrew, the name Carmelita means "garden", "orchard", or "vineyard", while in Spanish it means "little poem". The last name Vatos is a common Greek surname. In Spanish, "vatos" means "brothers".
- Carmelita was not shown to be with Arthur at Dot and Neil's wedding. It may have been too early in their relationship for them to attend such an event together.
- In the episode "Sidekicks Don't Kiss" (broadcast in 1996), Carmelita states that she had "dated" Wally when they were both eleven years old, and that that had been fifteen years ago. This would place Carmelita's birth ~1970.
- J.J. Vatos' affectionate nickname for Carmelita was "Pumpkin".
